Our figures, jewellery and sculptures are very different, exclusive, bespoke gifts. They can be given as leaving presents, for birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, or even as a gift for yourself! They can also make an unusual, memorable and very personal alternative to the traditional 'gold watch' for business men/women.
SCW figures are three dimensional, cartoon styled, sculpted figurine caricatures. We individually tailor each figure so that it is totally unique.
Our figures can be animated in any way you chose, be it standing, sitting or engaged in a sport or pastime such as skiing, golf, rugby, football or anything else you desire.
We capture the essence of a personality and, whilst making the figure facially resemble the actual victim as far as possible, they are caricatures. It should be remembered that, very often, it is what the subject is doing and how they are dressed that will express the most.
How They Are Made
Standing approximately 7-8 inches high, our figures are made from polymer clay or two part epoxy clay. The clay is formed around a core and wire frame known as an armature.
Worked with a variety of tools, muscle bulk, clothing and accessories are created.
The head is the most challenging part of the sculpture, taking the longest to produce. Facial muscles are added individually over a cast plaster skull.
The completed sculpture is then hand painted with a variety of painting mediums, (usually artist’s oil colours or enamels), prior to securing to a wooden base.
Construction takes on average, 30 hours spread over several days (making allowance for setting/drying intervals).
Some models take considerably longer. It all depends on the level of detail, add-ons, and props required (e.g. chairs, tables, animals etc.).
Once the figure and supplementary items are complete, it can take up to a week for the final coat of paint to dry naturally.
